Addictions are one of the most serious problems in our era. However, when you say addictions, people generally think of chemical addiction and they cannot think outside the triangle of heroin, alcohol, tobacco addictions. Whereas, while the addiction framework involves these substances, it also covers an area in our lives which is so large that it is not limited to these substances and so does its importance and threat in this large area.
The behavioral addiction, which is another kind of addiction different from the chemical addiction first coming to mind, generally goes unnoticed or is not considered as a harmful habit and not interpreted as a disorder. Without doubt, this situation leads to calling the addicted person with a series of negative adjectives but not to starting a treatment since the addiction is not seen as a disorder but a habit. Although behavioral addictions are in our daily lives and need to be examined in detail, in this study, internet addiction is discussed since its growth is faster and sneakier.
In his book "Internet Addiction", Mehmet Dinc writes, "Addiction is a disease of existence! It is caused by the inability of achieving integrity. Addiction is a sign that the person stopped believing in him/herself..." and he adds, "Addiction is not related to the role or does not occur by being part of a social class. Being addicted is diminishing the dignity. It is the result of dismantlement inside... Addiction is a mask to hide the lack of freedom and the renouncement of life."
