H
aving already created a number of
programs to prevent and treat drug
addictions since its founding, the Green
Crescent has recently initiated one of its most
significant projects and opened a consulting
phone line for addicts and their relatives.
There are many qualitative and quantitative
inadequacies in terms of supporting and
consulting people who are prone to addiction,
current addicts and their families. Having
recognized this need, the Green Crescent
opened the consulting line in July with
the support of the Istanbul Development
Agency. Those who want to receive support from
the consulting line can reach the Green Crescent
specialists at 444-79-75. The consultation team
consists of experts and psychologists who specialize
in addiction counselling. The teamwill give the callers
guidance, suggestions and consultation over the
phone.
Preparations for the Consultation
Center
Prepared to fill the gap in the area of
preventing and rehabilitating addiction
in Turkey, the Green Crescent will also
establish a consultation center in November.
The Green Crescent Consultation Center
(YEDAM) will give consultation and
psychological support services for addicts,
their families and youth under the risk of
being addicted. Istanbul is the pilot city
for the project. YEDAM hopes to establish
centers all over Turkey and also give social
support services for addicts to cope with
everyday life without the use of drugs and alcohol.
With its unique social support system, the center will
offer multi-dimensional services including vocational
courses, sports, cultural activities and education about
healthy lifestyles. Apart from that, YEDAMwill organize
family therapies and awareness sessions.
