Experts say that caring about the age group, parents
should inform their children on addictions without awa-
kening a sense of wonder and encouraging them to use.
And while doing this, experts focus on the cooperation
among family members. As a mother, what are your
truths about how parents should behave in this situa-
tion?
Parents can sometimes have various concerns in life
such as economic and health concerns. But this is very
important: If you start a family, you have to protect your
family at maximum level. That’s why I am telling parents
that “Money can be earned. Money is just a figure.
What you live and spend is life itself”. In this context,
parent shouldn’t neglect their children while earning
money. Sitting around a table together and looking for
a solution for a problem is important. Do you know that
parents are actually wasting time on trying to change
their children? They should change themselves at first.
If a child is not doing well, the reason for it might be you
and the society. “If that is the case, there is something I
have to change here” can be a good starting point to be
more beneficial for children.
We are in an age that children are consigned to tablets.
How is Alya doing with technology?
We shouldn’t see the developing technology as amons-
ter. If this is the necessity of the time, we need to live
this. This is a life test. God provided us withmany options
andwewill be judged by the options that we choose. If
THE MOST BEAUTIFUL MIND IS
HEALTHY MIND!
I am very sensitive about addictions. The primary
objective should be addictive substances not
addicted people. Even though people’s choices
and disposition play a role here, the most beautiful
mind is a healthy mind! Mustafa Kemal Atatürk says
that “A healthy mind exists in a healthy body.” I
don’t smoke or use alcohol. I walk for one and half
hours every morning and drink plenty of water. If
people think I am positive and friendly, I owe it to
the strength God has given me. I am positive and
cheerful because of doing sports.
technology is a part of our time and children are born into
this, depriving themof technology equals to arousing
their interest, I believe. For example, if my daughter wants
to playwith tablet, I should allowher to playwith it for
an hour or half an hour a day. But I amnot talking about
letting her playwith it as a reward because that would be
wrong. If you do your homework and eat your meal, you
will get chocolate or playwith table! In this case, tablet or
chocolate start to take the shape of reward all the time
in their lives. In other words, these rewards trigger addi-
ctions in the future. Therefore, parents should be careful
about rewarding. The point is tomanage perception rat-
her than say “don’t do it.”
When I
am addicted to
something so much,
I feel like I am in
prison.
