friends effectively at school and has
handcraft skills. She spends time with
me in the kitchen and even helps me
with cleaning chores. Children should
be taught such things from a young
age. For example, we made a cake
with my daughter for her birthday.
She enjoyed and embraced her job and
paid attention to it. Spending time with
your children in this way and teaching them
nice and right skills will positively impact their
lives in the future.
CHILDREN SHOULD BE TAUGHT TO
BE UNDERSTANDING
What do you think about fulfilling every wish of
children?
Everybody knows that if you do everything that
children want, they will be spoiled and psychologically
unsatisfied. But not doing so will not result in the oppo-
site either. There should be a balance. Children should
understand the true meaning of “yes” and “no”. If Alya
wants something reasonable, of course I should buy
it. However, it is necessary to teach children “we have
money to buy one of this” and “we don’t have money
to buy this right now”. Otherwise, they will believe that
everything belongs to them. Additionally, no matter
howmuch you "work on" your child, you are made to
give in at a certain point where human nature becomes
involved.
Family is the first place where a child learns what
love, respect and tolerance are. This requires strong
communication among family members. How should
strong ties and communication within a family be
conducted? And how do you make this communica-
tion?
I don’t support child engineering. Instead, I support
letting things go. I can love, kiss, smell and do the right
thing. Also, depending on the situation, I can shout and
say “stop”. Of course, violence is never part of this,
but shouting is also a violent act. Awhile ago I read
something, which made me cry a lot. A child broke an
armchair and his father tied the child’s feet together
all night. Then his feet became gangrenous and hence
they had to be cut off. When the child came home, he
said “Dad, I won’t sit on that armchair again.” His feet
have gone forever. What I am trying to say is that you
cannot know how the words used by parents
affect children. That is why I am opposed to
violence, but warnings like “don’t do it” are
necessary.
ADDICTION ISWEAKNESS
We face a serious problemwhich thre-
atens our young generation in particular:
Addiction! It emerged as a danger threate-
ning the entire society without making any
discrimination. How do you evaluate addiction?
I am one of those who see addiction as weakness. I
also see addiction to something you love too much
as weakness. When I am addicted to something so
much, I feel like I am in prison. Therefore, I cannot stay
at home or in the same place for a long time. I cannot
use the same thing for a long time. I have continuities,
not addictions, in my life. Continuities should be much
more ahead of addictions, I think. Family order is con-
tinuity. Your love to your spouse is continuity. When
it turns into an addiction, violence becomes involved.
You don’t give space to that person and let him/her
breathe. But in continuity, you let that person breathe
and you respect his/her existence and wishes. Ad-
diction is something that makes people blind. I know
something very well about smoking. Some say “I
smoke two cigarettes a day and I am not addicted”. If
you smoke two cigarettes, then you are addicted. Sin-
ce your body doesn’t accept a whole pack a day, you
smoke two cigarettes. If your body accepted it, you
might event smoke three packs a day. It is that simple.
Depriving

should be
