CHILDREN SHOULD TAKE SHELTER
IN THE FAMILY
As parents, you should build a strong communication and
relation with your children since early ages. When you do
this, they will lend an ear to your warnings more willingly
and take notice. The strong communication between you
and themwill help them to handle the though struggles of
life. You can take notice of the recommendations below so
as to build up a healthy communication and interaction:
■
No matter how old they are, make a habit of talking to
them everyday on a regular basis.
■
Ask your children’s opinion about daily incidents, simple
or crucial decisions and listen to them carefully.
■
Try to take an objective view of your children and listen
to themwithout judging or blaming.
■
Ensure your children to be honest from their early ages
on. Avoid oppressive, extremely critical or perfectionist
approach that compel them to lie.
■
Give them advice and suggestions; however, not in a
manner of preaching.
■
Pay attention to not building your conversation just on
reprimand, criticizing or advising.
■
Children who spend enough time with their families and
feel they are a part of the family life are less prone to drug
abuse.
■
Spend quality time with your children such as playing
games, listening to music, watching films, jogging and pic-
king books.
■
When you see your children sad or heart-broken, do not
ignore their bad mood and care about their problems by
asking and listening to them. Emphasize that you are ready
to help whatever they go through.
■
Try to use supportive and healing words like “We love
you”, “We are proud of you”, “You are very good at...” and
so on.
■
Read books and other publications about enhancing
intrafamilial communication, try to improve your know-
ledge by listening to expert opinions and join educational
programs.

Children learn values like good or
bad, true or wrong in the family at
the first stage. Parents showing
improper reactions such as ignoring,
underestimating or even laughing at
their children’s faulty behaviors or
giving inconsistent response to them
pave the way for their children to fall
short of gaining positive manners.
CHILDREN SHOULD LEARN TO TAKE
RESPONSIBILITY
One of the most important missions of
parents is to ensure that their child gain
responsibility and learn how to protect
themselves from harmful tendencies.
In particular, children who have
responsibility and positive values can
more possibly protect themselves in
puberty and adulthood. Parents’ ability
to ensure that the children gain basic
habits like personal care, health, regular
lifestyle and sleep, regular work-out in
time helps them protect themselves
and stay away from harmful behaviors.
