toanend.Winnersof the international short video competition titled "Let’sTalkAbout It, YouAreNot
Alone"whichwasorganizedwithin thescopeof theprojectwerehanded their awards.

inners of the international short video competition "Let's
Talk About It, You Are Not Alone" which was held within
the scope of the Drug Addiction Awareness on Adults
(DAWAP) Project. Advocating for the need to utilize proper and effe-
ctive public health communicationmethods in drug addiction aware-
ness campaigns, the Green Crescent held the competition with well-
known European nongovernmental organizations (NGOs). Syrian
students at İstanbul Şehir University, Beshr Idlbi and Huzaifa Asim,
won the first place award with their video titled "Where Were You?"
whileDutchparticipant Dobber Bolhuis came in secondwithhis video
titled "Coming Home", and Lithuanian participant Edvinas Montwillas
came in thirdwithhisvideo titled "TemporaryDarkness." Thewinners
received5,000, 3,000and2,000Euros, respectively.
FinancedbytheCentreforEuropeanUnionEducationandYouthProg-
rammes(TurkishNationalAgency),theDAWAPprojectaimedtocrea-
te drug addiction awareness both inTurkeyand inEurope through the
short videocompetition.

Turkish Green Crescent Society, we actively advocate for communi-
cation strategy developed on the basis of scientific analyses within
the project. Thanks to these efforts, increasing adult awareness on
drugs is included in the Turkish national strategy on drugs. I would like
to express our thanks to all individuals and organizations, and young
participants of the competition for contributing to such a significant
project," hesaid.
During his speech at the award ceremony which was attended by
President of the Turkish Green Crescent Society Professor Mücahit
Öztürk, project advisor Professor Peyami Çelikcan, national first place
winnersandproject representatives fromLithuania, Holland, Portugal,
first place winner Beshr Idlbi stated: "Years ago, son of our neighbor
died of drug addiction at a very young age. There was no one to take
care of and offer a bright future to him, including their parents. This
competition and being the first-place winner have been an opportu-
nity forme to drawattention to thismatter; it alsomotivatedme gre-
atly for my profession. I thank Turkey and Green Crescent for this op-
portunity."DobberBolhois,theDutchparticipantwhocame insecond
in thecompetition, said that hedepicteddrugaddiction in thiscompe-
tition, and that hewould direct a new filmwith his award. Stating that
movie making is a passion for him, Edvinas Montvilas said that they
tried tounderstand drug addictionwithin the frameof this competiti-
onand that being the thirdplacewinner of thecompetitionwouldbea
sourceof inspiration for himtomakemoremovies.
High school and university students living in Turkey, Holland, Lithua-
niaandPortugalparticipated intheshortvideocompetition. Informing
adults on drugs and addiction risks and preventing drug use among
children and youth through awareness-raising were the focus of the
videos; thereweremessages regarding the risksof drugaddiction.
