BEST ANTI-ADDICTION SCREENPLAYS GET AWARDS
T
he Turkish Green Crescent Society and the Professional
Union of Cinema and Television Writers (SETEM) orga-
nized the Healthy Ideas Screenplay Contest in coop-
eration with Istanbul Development Agency and the General
Directorate of Cinema of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
The contest was themed with the struggle against alcohol,
tobacco, drug and technology addictions and short films of
the award-winning screenplays were shot. Students from the
communication faculties of universities and vocational schools
of cinema and TV participated in the contest that sought to
raise awareness against addictions with these short films.
Three hundred and sixty three short film scripts were evalu-
ated by a jury consisting of Professor Peyami Çelikcan, Özcan
Çalışkan and Feza Sınar to select 12winning scripts. Then, these
screenplays were filmed by the SETEM. These films were pro-
moted in the social media and they will be used in the addiction
training for nongovernmental organizations (NGOs). The young
people who were previously trained by SETEM Academy acted
their parts in the films, and this ensured the continuation of the
past projects by paving theway for introduction of these young
people to the profession.
The award ceremony was held at the Headquarters of the
Turkish Green Crescent Society on August 25, and was at-
tended by the executives of professional unions of cinema,
General Director of Istanbul Cinema and Copyrights Nevin
Sekizkardeş, representing the Ministry of Culture and Tourism,
Provincial Director of the Ministry of Family and Social Policies
Önal İnaltekin, the press and guests. The firms were premiered
during the event.
Vice President of the Turkish Green Crescent Society Assis-
tant Professor M. Akif Seylan and SETEM President Mehmet
Güleryüz delivered keynote speeches during the ceremony
presented by Mehmet Önder. The first, second and third place
prizes were TL 3,000, TL 2,000 and TL 1,000, respectively. The
award-winning films were screened collectively.
