Two hundred and eight school counselors took the training in Antalya to become TBM trainers
of trainers within the framework of the Addiction Prevention Training Program of Turkey (TBM),
implemented by the Turkish Green Crescent Society and the Ministry of National Education.
Under the TBM, which is the world's most comprehensive preventive anti-addiction program,
28,000 school counselors across Turkey have been provided with addiction training and
awareness of 11 million students and 2 million parents has been raised so far.

MOBILIZATION TO FIGHT ADDICTIONS

wo hundred and eight school counselors took a four-
day program in Antalya within the context of the Turkish
Green Crescent Society's Addiction Prevention Training
Program of Turkey (TBM), consisting of the content developed
by field experts and customized according to age groups in the
fields of smoking, alcoholism, technology addiction and healthy
lifestyle. With the TBM, launched in 2014, five school counse-
lors from each province were given training on different addi-
ction areas to become TBM trainers of trainers. These trainers
gave face-to-face training on 28,000 school counselors ac-
ross Turkey. In the program implemented by the Turkish Green
Crescent Society in cooperation with the Ministry of National
Education, 11 million students and 2 million parents have been
covered via 28,000 guidance counselors so far.
"Our goal is to reach 18million students"
New trainers of trainers joined the TBMwith the training held in
Antalya. Delivering the closing speech of the program, Turkish
Green Crescent Society General Manager Savaş Yılmaz indi-
cated that they seek to reach about 18 million students via the
school counselors who are specialized in addictions.
Yılmaz noted that they have launched a trainingmobilization to
fight addictions. "The TBM is a preventive and protective an-
ti-addition training program developed by the academics, phy-
sicians, psychologists and communication professionals who
are experts in addictions, considering the existing needs of our
country. In cooperationwith theMinistryof National Education,
we launched this program in 2014, and since then, we have pro-
vided 11million students and 2million parentswith age-specific
addiction training andwe have raised their awareness in this re-
gard. We trained five trainers of trainers from each province in
the fields of tobacco addiction, alcoholism, technology addicti-
on andhealthy lifestyle, and these trainers of trainers conveyed
these trainings to all school counselors in their respective pro-
vinces. With this mobilization, we believe we can make a major
contribution to the awareness raising of our society," he said.
