“I WON BACK MY LOVED ONES
THANKS TO GREEN CRESCENT”
Z.T., whose life was being devastated
by his gambling addiction and his
material and moral losses, took the
first step towards taking back control
of his life and ridding himself of his
addiction by applying to the Green
Crescent Training and Counseling
Center. Z.T., who did not consider
his gambling to be a problem in his
life, said: “My parents, friends, wife
and children were slipping through
my fingers. Then I saw how this
addiction had led my life to a dead
end.”
“I was living my life in a vortex ”
Gambling addict Z.T. explained his
situationbeforeapplying to theGreen
Crescent Training and Counseling
Center, which provides free psycho-
social services to addicts and their
relatives: “At work, I used to finishmy
tasks quickly and would then gamble
until close of business. When my
wife called after the working hours
were over, I would tell her that I still
had work to do, and that I would be
home late. I gambled until my wife
and those around me realized my
situation. In time, I started to lose,
and in trying to recoup my losses, I
lost even more. Every time I played,
I told myself that it would be the last
time, but I couldn’t stop gambling.
It was like I was in the clutches of
gambling. As I continued gambling,
my debts increased. I owed money
to all those people in my life and
one day, a friend of mine came to my
door to ask for his money. The look of
disappointment onmywife’s face and
my desperation … My wife asked me
to tell her what I was going through,
and I told her everything, aside from
the size of my debts. I continued my
descent into a dead-end whirlpool,
constantly lying, gambling to recoup
what I had lost, and losing again.”
“I won my family back ”
Z.T. realized how bad his gambling
addiction was only when he started
to lose his family and loved ones,
one-by-one. “My gambling got to a
point where I would make mistakes,”
said Z.T., explaining what he was
going through: “I started having
difficulties in my work. My friends
were abandoning me because of
my debts. I was making my family,
especially my beloved wife, deeply
disappointed and unhappy.” Stating
that he felt like gambling had taken
him prisoner, Z.T. said that calling
the Green Crescent Training and
Counseling Center gave him the
opportunity to start life again.
