Investing in the Future (Ongoing Project)

Investing in the Future is a social responsibility project that supports young people preparing for university entrance exams while drawing on the knowledge and experience of retired teachers for the benefit of society. Built around Green Crescent volunteering, the project seeks to create a sustainable model of intergenerational solidarity.

The project offers free academic support and study sessions, bringing together students in need of additional academic support.

Project Objectives and Scope

Beyond academic achievement, Investing in the Future aims to support young people’s development in a safe social environment, focusing on the following objectives:

- Improve the academic performance of high school seniors and graduates preparing for university entrance exams, while helping them develop effective study habits and stay motivated throughout the exam preparation process.

- Provide young people with a safe, supportive, and productive social environment that encourages healthy living.

- Enable retired teachers to share their experience through volunteering, allowing them to contribute to society.

- Promote a culture of solidarity through Green Crescent volunteering, with education at its core, while providing a model for similar initiatives.

Implementation Model

The project provides structured academic support through a volunteer-based model built around the following components:

- Academic Support: Free academic lessons, supervised study sessions, and sessions dedicated to working through practice questions, all led by retired volunteer teachers.

- Student Guidance and Support: Guidance services and sessions offering moral support to students during the exam preparation process.

- Volunteer Matching: Volunteer teachers and students are matched according to subject areas and individual needs, with weekly study schedules arranged around their availability.

- Peer Support: University student volunteers may also provide study support when needed.

- Venues: Activities are held regularly in suitable rooms at the Green Crescent Cerrahpaşa Youth Center and Yedikule Green Crescent Counseling Center (YEDAM).
