

We are pleased to publish the third
issue of Green Crescent Magazine, the
English adapted version of Turkey's
oldest health and lifestylemagazine.
It is of great value to us to share on an
international platformour 100-year
background through our magazine,
Turkey's sole periodical publication on
addictions.
The Turkish Green Crescent Society
is sticking to its vision of being
an exemplary nongovernmental
organization (NGO) as it takes
great strides toward its centennial
anniversary of establishment. Poised
to protect the society fromharmful
habits indiscriminately andwith
emphasis on human dignity and
esteem, the Turkish Green Crescent
Society fights tobacco, alcohol, drug,
gambling and technology addiction
with scientificmethods. As a public
health organization that conducts
preventive and rehabilitative activities,
the Turkish Green Crescent Society
is striving tomake Turkey a paragon
of fight against addictions. In the light
of this vision, we have established
branches in Turkey and 34 national
Green Crescents around theworld.
In 2013, we amended our bylaws
to add rehabilitation services to
our scope of activities. In 2015, we
established the Green Crescent
Counseling Center (YEDAM) to
provide psychological counseling and
rehabilitation support to alcohol and
drug addicts and their relatives free
of charge. Scaling up our international
activities, wemanaged to acquire a
global NGO status in 2016.
As part of our efforts for international
organization, we undersigned the
establishment declaration of the
International Federation of Green
Crescents with the participation
of 34 national Green Crescents.
We ensured that the Turkish Green
Crescent Society acquired the special
consultative status with the United
Nations Economic Social Council
(ECOSOC) andwas awardedwith
the European Foundation for Quality
Management (EFQM) "Committed
to Excellence and Recognised for
Excellence 3 star" certificates.
In this issue, we touch on all these
processes and our global cooperation
efforts. We thank all our stakeholders
and volunteers who support us in our
fight to save generations and future
fromaddictions.
