A QURAN FROM THE PERIOD OF THE PROPHET MUHAMMAD
A Quran written at the time of the Prophet Muhammad was recently found in Berlin. It is believed
to be one of the first written copies of the Quran.
The reconstruction of

will begin this month.
The North Gate Visitor
Entrance Center will
welcome tourists with
a new gate redesigned
to better match the
architecture of its
surrounding buildings.
Some pages of the Quranwhich are predicted to have
beenwritten at the time of the Prophet Muhammad
were found in the Berlin Public Library in Germany. The
copy, whichwas kept in the Berlin Public Library for
a long time and predicted to have beenwrittenwhen
the Prophet Muhammadwas alive, was scientifically
proved to belong to that period. It was determined after
a laboratory examination conducted in Zurich that the
Quran pages werewritten sometime between 606 and
652. According to the newspaper namedMaerkische
Allgemeine Zeitung, Jeanette Lamble, the press agent
of the public library, announced that the pages were
examined in a laboratory in Zurichwithin the scope of
a comprehensive and long-term research project titled
“Corpus Coranicusm.”Within this project, all the Quran
copies located across Europe are scientifically examined.
It is supposed that these Quran pages in Berlin have been
kept in the Berlin Public Library for nearly 100 years. It is
anticipated that these pages, whichwere inherited by a
scientist living in Cairo, were brought to Germany either
at the end of the 19th century or at the beginning of the
20th century.
