Green Crescent is engaged in activities
to raise awareness of addictions around
the world and in our country. To this
end, it hosted the third edition of the
International Green Crescent Cartoon
Contest, in which attention is drawn
to addictions through the universal
language of cartoons.

THROUGH CARTOONS
C
arrying out national and
international
activities
aimed at fighting addiction,
Green Crescent organized the
3rd International Green Crescent
Cartoon Contest as a means of
encouraging people, particularly
youngsters, to stand up against
addiction all around the globe.
The competition attracted 414
cartoonists from 51 countries,
held under the theme “The
Preventive Effect of Sports on
Addiction”, to which a total of
787 cartoons were submitted.
The
award
ceremony
was
attended with great enthusiasm
at Green Crescent Headquarters
Sepetçiler Palace on the evening
of June 21, 2019, when thewinning
cartoonists were awarded their
prizes.

The prize for the winning entry
from among the 414 cartoonists
from 51 countries, and the 787
submitted cartoons depicting the
relationship between addiction
and sports in a humorous
manner, was awarded to Aşkın
Ayrancıoğlu from Turkey. The five
runners-up were Satılmış Akın
from Turkey, Amir Khaleghi from
Iran, Khodayar Naroei from Iran,
Bradya Izquierdo Rodriguez from
Cuba and Antonio Claudio Gomes
from Brazil.
The
award
ceremony
was
attended
by
Metin
Peker,
Chairman of the Association
of Cartoonists, as well as by
Cartoonist Şevket Yalaz. Paulo
Roberto Caminha De Castilhos
Franca, Consul General of Brazil,
accepted a prize on behalf of
the Brazilian artist. The opening
speech was delivered by Prof.
Peyami Çelikcan, Green Crescent
Board Member and Rector of
Şehir University.
Awareness in the universal
language of humor
Speaking at the award ceremony,
Green Crescent President Prof.
Mücahit Öztürk stated that as
Green Crescent, they are engaged
in activities aimed at protecting
society, preventing addiction and
raising public awareness.
