Prof. Mücahit Öztürk thanked
the entrants for their works, and
continued: “Since the 2000s,
some
important
functions
and
responsibilities have been added to the
existing heritage of Green Crescent.
With its professional volunteers,
openness and transparency, it has
gained an institutional structure and
an understanding, which
serves as a model for
NGOs. We are glad

“Cartoonists add value to our work”
Underlining that addiction is a serious
problem that threatens young people
all around the globe, preventing them
from engaging in a productive life,
Green Crescent General Manager
Sultan Işık continued: “We are
becoming organized in 52 countries
and are sharing our experiences
with other NGOs. We have always
managed to be at the forefront of
the field with our globally
effective works and
exemplary projects.
With this contest,
we diversify our
activities in so as
to draw public
attention
to
this important
issue

to
raise
a w a r e n e s s .
We
have
brought
many
dear
cartoonists
from all over the
world into our fight
against addiction through
the International Green Crescent
Cartoon Contest. The perspective of
addiction among the cartoonists, who
have the power to influence society,
and particularly young people, adds
value to our efforts with a humorous
approach.” Sultan Işık thanked all
the cartoonists who had joined the
contest for taking responsibility in the
fight against addiction.
The jury was composed of Prof. Peyami
Çelikcan, Chairman of the Scientific
Committee of Green Crescent; Metin
Peker, Chairman of the Association
of Cartoonists; cartoonists Şevket
Yalaz and Özcan Çalışkan; and last
year’s award-winning and honored
guest cartoonist Borislav Stankovic.
The winner of the competition was
awarded 15,000 liras and five runner-
ups received 3,500 lira.
We are glad to have come
together for one of our
