Phoenix Awards ceremony
was hosted by Green Crescent
with the participation of President
Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Awards were
given in six categories in the national
and international arena, namely
politics, arts, sports, academia,
social responsibility and the media.
In addition to the individuals and
organizations that support the fight
against addiction in thenational arena,
internationally renowned figures such
as basketball player Bobby Dixon Ali
Muhammed and academic Prof. Marc
Potenza also received awards. The
5th Phoenix Awards were held at the
Cemal Reşit Rey Concert Hall on April
20, 2018, and were attended by many
people, including politicians, civil
servants, artists, etc.
“Green Crescent proudly
represents our country”
In his speech at the ceremony,
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said
that he was pleased to come together
with Green Crescent volunteers for
the award ceremony. He gave thanks
to Green Crescent President Prof.
Mücahit Öztürk and the Board of
Directors, and expressed his gratitude
to all members of Green Crescent who
have been working to raise healthy
generations since 1920.
Noting that Green Crescent had
not only made a name for itself in
Turkey due to its successes, but had
also aided its foreign counterparts
in many countries with its fund of
knowledge and experience, President
Erdogan said, “Turkey shares its
century-old corporate memory of the
fight against addiction and harmful
habits with our friends and brothers.
Green Crescent provides services,
focused
projects
and
valuable
activities both at home and abroad. I
wish you success,particularly in your
international
collaborations,
and
believe that you will proudly represent
our country around the world. I hope
that 5th Phoenix Awards will be of
great benefit to Turkey and its people
in their fight against addiction. I give
congratulations to our artists, media
members, academicians, athletes
and politicians who have accepted
awards here following a meticulous
selection process. Green Crescent’s
Phoenix Awards are undoubtedly very
important for the winners, although
they also come with responsibility and
accountability. To accept this award
is to write your sign your name to a
Green Crescent continues to reward individuals, institutions and organizations that support the fight against
addiction in the national and international arena. In this context, the 5th Phoenix Awards were held under
the auspices of the Presidency, and with the participation of the President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
