Peyami Çelikcan was born in Ankara on 25th of December, 1961. He was graduated from the Department of Radio, Television and Cinema, Faculty of Communication, Ankara University in 1986. He started working as a research assistant at Gazi University in 1987. By having YÖK scholarship, he went to the U.S.A for his master’s degree in 1988. He graduated from the Communication Arts Department, University of West Florida in 1990 by having master’s degree in the field of communication arts. He got his Ph.D. in the field of cinema and television, 9 Eylül University in 1994.
He worked as the Dean of Faculty of Communication, Eastern Mediterranean University and Maltepe University between 2003- 2013. Lastly he was appoited as the Dean of Faculty of Communication, İstanbul Şehir University. Çelikcan has been studying on communication sciences, cinema-television, popular culture, media history, and documentary film. He has been also producing documentary films as documentary film maker and script writer.
He was born in 1979 in Konya. He graduated from Selçuk University Faculty of Theology in 2002. He finished his master’s degree with his work titled "The Relation Self-realisation and Piety" In 2009, he completed his doctorate with his thesis titled "The Role of Piety and Emphaty in Prosocial Behaviour". He became an associate professor in 2012. He still works as a faculty member at Department of Psychology of Religion at Marmara University Faculty of Theology. Assoc. Prof. Ayten focuses on the relation between religion and health. He is married and has two children.
She was graduated from Anadolu University Faculty of Communication Sciences in 1986. She earned her master’s degree at the Department of Educational Communication and Planning between 1987-1989. She received her doctorate at the Department of Educational Technology. She worked as a research assistant, lecturer and teaching fellow in the Faculty of Education at Anadolu University between 1990-2005. She served as the general manager for Family and Social Research at the Prime Ministry of Turkey between 2006-2011. She served as the Undersecretary to the Ministry of Family and Social Policies between 2011-2013. She worked as teaching fellow in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, department of Educational Sciences at Istanbul Commerce University. She was assigned to senior duties such as the Ministry of Family and Social Policies. She has national and international publications in the fields of educational sciences, learning-teaching, educational communication, techno-psychology and family education.
Erkan Ceylan graduated from Çukurova University Faculty of Medicine, after which he completed his doctorate studies in the Department of Pulmonary Diseases of Yüzüncü Yıl University. He gained his associate professorship at Harran University in 1998 and was awarded the title of professor at Istanbul Medeniyet University in 2013.
Prof. Ceylan is currently working in the Department of Pulmonary Diseases of Istanbul Medeniyet University. He has published many national and international articles and book chapters, has been recognized with both national and international awards, and has founded many national and international professional and non-governmental organizations.
Faruk Aşıcıoğlu graduated from Istanbul University- Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine at 1985. He worked at different departments of the Turkish Ministry of Health until 1991. He had specialist degree in Forensic Medicine (1994), Associate Professor (2004), Professor (2014). He also had Ph.D. degree in Medical Biology(2006).
He worked consecutive 22 years at the Council of Forensic Medicine, the Turkish Ministry of Justice, respectively at the Q&D drepartment (1994-2000), Biology Department (2000-2003; as a director) and as a chairman of the 5th Committee (the supreme expertise organ about forensic toxicology, narcotics, alcohol and genetics in Turkey) of the Council between 2003-2014. He works now as a Professor at the Institute of Forensic Medicine, University of Istanbul.
Besides many national and international published articles, he wrote five books in Turkish at the Forensic field. He has active role as a member at many national and international scientific organisation. He is the founder and still president of The Turkish Association of Questioned Document examination, and The Turkish Association of Forensic Biology, Genetics and Gene Law . He is also national expert of Early Warning System of TUBIM which is the Turkish Focal Point of EMCDDA (European Monitoring Center for Drugs and Drug Addiction).
After completing his high school education at the Ankara Science High School and the Faculty of Medicine at the Ege University, completed specialization at Ege University Medical School Department of Psychiatry. He has over than 150 articles published in national and international journals, presented at scientific meetings, and 6 books published. He is the founder of Ege University Child and Adolescent Addiction Substance Center. At 2008, has been the Founding President of the Substance Abuse, Toxicology and Pharmaceutical Sciences Institute. He is continuing his research and graduate studies at Ege University Substance Abuse Center. He works in many science committees at the ministry level in the field of drug addiction. He has lot of cooperation with the international agencies for the prevention and treatment of substance use in Turkey. Development of the professional definition of addiction counseling, creation and dissemination of multidisciplinarity in addiction, and molecular studies in addiction are the main areas of interest. He is married and father of two children.
He was graduated from Marmara University School of Medicine in 1990. He worked as a general practitioner for 3 years. Then he started residency training in public health at Marmara University. After being a public health specialist, he worked for private sector on quality management consulting and auditing. He then served as assistant professor at the Department of Health Management of Marmara University. He became a member of The Steering Committee of National Health Care Accreditation System of Ministry of Health in 2004-2005. He then worked as senior training and research coordinator for Ministry of Health in 2008-2009. He received B.A. degree in business administration in 2009. Lastly, he was assigned as the first Public Health Director of Istanbul in 2012 where he was responsible for fight against tobacco, alcohol and substance. At the end of his two-year term, he returned to Marmara University. He is still working at Istanbul Medeniyet University and is married has 3 children.
Prof. Dr. Osman Tolga Aricak received his B.A. degree in Counseling and Guidance Program from Istanbul University in 1993, M.A. degree in Psychological Services in Education in 1995 and Ph.D. in Educational Sciences from the Marmara University at Istanbul in 1999. He worked at Trakya University, Indiana University, Tulane University, Fatih University, and Harvard University respectively. He is currently professor of psychology in the Department of Psychology at Hasan Kalyoncu University in Turkey. He is interested in methodology and statistics in psychology. His current research focused on cyberbullying among children. He is member of American Psychological Association, International School Psychology Association, and Turkish Counseling and Guidance Association.
He graduated from Istanbul University Istanbul Faculty of Medicine in 1991. He completed his psychiatry specialization in Bakırköy Training and Research Hospital for Psychiatry, Neurology and Neurosurgery in 1996. In the same year, he started working as the head assistant in Alcohol Drug Research, Treatment and Education Centre (AMATEM), and he became Assoc. Prof. in 2006. In 2010, he took over the position of clinic director of AMATEM. He has up to 200 National and International scientific publications and book chapters in the field of alcohol drug addiction. He is still responsible for AMATEM Alcohol department, Editor of Düșünen Adam: Journal of Psychiatry and Neurological Sciences, president of Bakırköy Research and Advanced Education Centre (BARİLEM) and Member of Scientific Meeting Arrangement Board of Turkish Psychiatry Association.
She graduated from Istanbul University Faculty of Letters in 1990. She received master’s degree in Psychological Services in Education (1993), and Ph. D. in Psychological Services in Education in 1999. She started working as the assistant professor in Istanbul University, Hasan Ali Yucal Faculty of Education, Department of Educational Sciences in 2001. She became associate professor in 2010. She is stil working as a associate professor at Istanbul University, Hasan Ali Yucal Faculty of Education, Department of Educational Sciences. Her research interest include family therapy, child abuse and theoretical orientations.
Merih Altıntaş graduated from Samsun Anatolian High School, after which, she graduated from the 19 Mayıs University Faculty of Medicine. She completed her psychiatry residency training in the Erenköy Mental and Neurological Disorders Training and Research Hospital, penning a dissertation entitled “Childhood Trauma, Dissociation and Coping Attitudes in Perpetrators”.
She completed her compulsory specialty service in Viranşehir State Hospital, and was appointed as chief resident at the Erenköy Mental and Neurological Disorders Training and Research Hospital in 2013. She has worked in the provision of psychosis services and in the AMATEM (TCASA) clinic, and as a consultant and the person in charge in the ISTKA (Istanbul Development Agency) BADEM project (Addiction Counseling and Education Center for Outpatient Treatment), working on the first implementation of an outpatient treatment and rehabilitation model and in the establishment of the center. She was also in charge of the establishment and implementation of DAN-TE (Addiction Counseling and Treatment Center) – a pilot approach to outpatient treatment in our country.
She served as the secretary of EBAM (Erenköy Scientific Research Center). She was recognized with a research award by the Psychiatric Association of Turkey in 2013. She qualified as an associate professor of psychiatry in 2018. She attended the World Health Organization Gambling Workshop in 2019. She is currently coordinating the Green Crescent Struggle against Addiction (TBM) Gambling Module Project. She provides consultancy in different projects on addiction. She is a member of Addicta Journal Editorial Board. In 2020, she participated in the establishment of the Kartal Dr. Lütfi Kırdar City Hospital Psychiatry Clinic. Her main interest areas are alcohol and substance use disorders, behavioral addictions, family and couple therapies, EMDR and social psychiatry. She is the Istanbul Branch President of the Psychiatric Association of Turkey, and is a member of the Family and Couple Therapy Association, the Addiction Psychiatry Association, and the European Society of Traumatology and EMDR Association.
She is currently working as a lecturer, and is responsible for AMATEM (TCASA) in the Erenköy Mental and Neurological Disorders Training and Research Hospital.
He graduated from Marmara University Faculty of Medicine in 2005. Between the years 2006-2011, he served as a researcher at the Istanbul University, Department of Child and Adolescent Mental Health and Diseases. He carried out his compulsory service at Van Yüzüncü Yıl University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Child and Adolescent Mental Health and Diseases between 2011-2013.
As of 2013, he conducts his studies as a specialist in the Department of Child and Adolescent Mental Health and Diseases at Istanbul University.
He received an MA from Istanbul University, Department of Sociology. His MA thesis was entitled “Life Strategies of the Indigent: The Districts of Küçük Mustafa Paşa and Balat (Istanbul) as Cases in Point.” Then, at the same department, he completed his doctoral dissertation that entitled “Urban Intervention in The City of Istanbul (1980-2010).” His research interests include urban interventions, urban and politics, gentrification, housing, poverty, sociology of space, family, media, technology addiction and sociology of aging. He is the co-editor of Addicta: The Turkish Journal on Addictions and Turkish Journal of Business Ethics.
Ömer Miraç Yaman graduated from Istanbul University, Faculty of Letters, Department of Sociology in 2003. He completed his postgraduate studies in Sociology at the Selçuk University, Faculty of Letters in 2007. He began his doctoral studies in Sociology at the Sakarya University Faculty of Arts and Sciences in 2008 receiving the title of Associate Professor in 2012. He is currently working as a faculty member in the Department of Social Work at Istanbul University.
Dr. Perihan Torun, MSc Epidemiology, FHEA
Perihan Torun worked as a GP before trained in Public Health Medicine and later specialised in Epidemiology in the UK. She worked with the National Health Service (UK) in public health and with the University of Manchester for a European Commission funded project. Later, she developed and taught online teaching classes at the post-graduate level with the universities of Liverpool and Sheffield, and successfully completed the Fellowship Programme of the UK Higher Education Academy (HEA).
On her return to Turkey, she joined Bezmialem Vakif University to lead policy-oriented research on migration and alcohol consumption and later worked as the manager of the Scientific Studies and Advocacy Department of the Turkish Green Crescent Society. She currently leads the Department of Public Health at the University of Health Sciences, Hamidiye Medical School. She is a member of the Board of the Global Alcohol Policy Alliance.
She graduated from Istanbul University, Istanbul Medical Faculty in 1999. She completed her psychiatric residency at Bakırköy Training and Research Hospital for Psychiatry and Neurological Diseases between 2002-2007. She worked at Erzurum Palandöken Public Hospital for 2 years, and at Elazığ Hospital for Mental Health and Diseases as the head of Alcohol and Drug Addiction Research, Treatment and Education Center (AMATEM) for 4 years. In 2015, she assumed the title of an associate professor of psychiatry. She is currently working as a chief physician in the AMATEM clinic at Erenköy Training and Research Hospital for Psychiatry and Neurological Diseases where she took charge in the establishment of it.
She is a specialist in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. She graduated from Trakya University, Medical Faculty with a degree in 1994. She worked as a research fellow at Marmara University Gastroenterology Institute in Istanbul between 1995-1998 and she completed her master’s degree with a thesis in the subject of “HGV Virus in Patients with Behçet’s Disease” in 1998. She worked as an assistant at Kocaeli University, Medical Faculty, Department of Child’s Mental Health between 2001-2007 and assumed the title of specialist in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry with her thesis in the subject of “Early Childhood Inventory-4: The Reliability and Validity of Parent Form Study and Prevalence of Mental Disorders among 3-5 Year-Old Children with Population and Clinical Samples” in 2007.
Subsequently, she worked as a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist at Bakırköy Mazhar Osman Psychiatric Hospital for 1.5 years, at Erenköy Psychiatric Hospital for 1.5 years, and at Medeniyet University Göztepe Training and Research Hospital for 2 years. She has been working as a teaching fellow at Hasan Kalyoncu University, Psychology Department since 2012. Moreover, she founded Güneş Çocuk in 2009 and Güneş Çocuk Akademi in 2019. She assumed the title of associate professor in 2015.
She is the founding president of Turkish Association for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Commission of Children with Special Needs and consultant doctor of Turkish Down Syndrome Association. She is especially interested in early childhood mental disorders, learning and attention disorders as well as the children with neurodevelopmental deficiency and their parents.
She has published several national and international articles and is the author of chapters in many books regarding her field. She is also the author of two books: “Çocuklarda Dürtüsellik” (Impulsivity in Children) and “Ailede Cinsel Eğitim” (Sex Education in Family).
Duygu Dinçer is an assistant professor in the Department of Psychological Counseling and Guidance at Ibn Haldun University. She received her bachelor’s degree in Psychological Counseling and Guidance from Istanbul University, in 2006, her MA degree in Psychology from Mugla Sitki Kocman University, in 2013 and her Ph.D. degree in Psychological Counseling and Guidance from Marmara University, in 2017 respectively. From 2010 to 2011 she worked at Mugla Sitki Kocman University and from 2012 to 2016 she worked at Marmara University as a research assistant. Also, she was a visiting scholar at University of Leuven (Belgium) in 2011 and the University of California, Berkley (USA) in 2015. Her current research interests focus on culture, emotion psychology, couple and marriage counseling, positive psychology, existential psychology, gender, literature criticism, quantitative and qualitative research methods.
Tuba Topçuoğlu is Assistant Professor of Criminology at Istanbul University Law Faculty since 2013. She received her MPhil degree in criminological research in 2006 and then her PhD in criminology at Cambridge University in 2011. Before, she had studied economics at University College London and obtained her M.Sc. in 2000. She received her BA in economics at Koç University in 1999. Her main research interests are quantitative research methods in criminology, comparative criminology, juvenile delinquency and crime prevention. She currently gives lectures to undergraduate and graduate students (Turkish and English) in several topics in criminology.
