Cooperation Protocol Between International Federation Of Green Crescents and FIMA

A protocol of cooperation was signed between IFGC and FIMA in the 34th Congress on Health in Africa organized by the Federation of Islamic Medical Associations (FIMA), Turkish Ministry of Health, Istanbul Medeniyet University and Hayat Foundation.

The 34th Congress on Health in Africa was organized by the Federation of Islamic Medical Associations (FIMA), Turkish Ministry of Health, Istanbul Medeniyet University and Hayat Foundation in Istanbul. 700 international participants, ministers, bureaucrats from over 60 countries participated in the Congress. 

In addition to FIMA, representatives of nearly 50 non-governmental organizations and academicians presented papers. IFGC which brought together 34 National Green Crescents and the Green Crescents to be established cooperated with FIMA. Through the protocol signed between IFGC President Prof. Dr. Ihsan Karaman and FIMA President Dr. Tanveer Zubairi, FIMA and IFGC will cooperate to provide training, content and expert support through co-ordinated work in the field of addictions between IFGC countries and FIMA. Within this framework, it is aimed to announce all kinds of meetings, seminars, training and broadcasting activities to be realized by the two institutions, to cooperate in research and education activities and to effectively exchange information and experiences. The Congress also included a session dedicated to the Green Crescent's international cooperation and IFGC.

New President of FIMA: Prof. Dr. Karaman

At the 34th Congress on Health in Africa, FIMA presidency was given to Turkey. 

Currently Vice President of FIMA and President of the IFGC Prof. Dr. Ihsan Karaman took over the presidency from Dr. Tanveer Zubairi.

IFGC targets 60 countries by the end of 2018

The Green Crescent endeavours to be organised at the international level in addition to its branches in Turkey. Within this scope, the Green Crescent gained the status of a global non-governmental organization by supporting the establishment of National Green Crescents all over the world. With the National Green Crescents, which have been established in 34 countries up to now, the aim is to transfer century-old experience of struggle with addictions to other countries and to support the works on addiction. Having carried its international activities to the next level, the Turkish Green Crescent gathered the National Green Crescents under the roof of the International Federation of Green Crescents (IFGC) which announced its Declaration of Establishment in April 2016. In IFGC, Turkish Green Crescent is a National Green Crescent, like other National Green Crescents, and supervises other countries. The number of the National Green Crescent is currently 34, and the aim is to reach 60 countries by the end of 2018.
