Turkish Green Crescent shared its experiences with 52 countries

The International Federation of Green Crescents has organized the 3rd Country Green Crescents Capacity Building Program and the 2nd General Assembly in Belek, Antalya between 17-20 December.

Over the course of the Capacity Building Program’s four days, Turkish Green Crescent has demonstrated its fast-paced progress in becoming a "Worldwide Model NGO" by making use of its vast experience for nearly a century and carrying it to the international arena.

In the 3rd Country Green Crescents Capacity Building Program, hosted by the Turkish Green Crescent and organized by the International Federation of Green Crescents (IFGC), the President of the International Federation of Green Crescents Prof. Dr. M. İhsan Karaman made the opening remarks and highlighted that addiction is a problem of all humanity. He said "As Green Crescent, we are currently fighting against addictions which afflict a wide range of communities - from Africa to Europe, from North America to Far East. In order to fight against addictions, not only in Turkey but also in the rest of the globe, we pay great attention to cooperating with international organizations and practicing worldwide organization. In the last years, we have greatly strengthened our bilateral relations with many international organizations, and we have been a significant representative in the fight against addictions in many official and public channels. Today, we can say, there is an influential Green Crescent all over the world."

Turkish Green Crescent conveyed its scientific-based experiences to 11 countries as part of Addiction Prevention Training Program of Turkey (TBM)

Turkish Green Crescent society, with the prevention centered perspective, and with the scientifically proven educational program "Addiction Prevention Training Program of Turkey" conducted in cooperation with the Ministry of National Education, has conveyed information to 46 formatters from 11 countries such as Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Kosovo, Montenegro, Macedonia, Serbia, and Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, to present a proven educational model and to help its dissemination to other Country Green Crescents.

Green Crescent Board Member Dr. Esra Albayrak, in her speech at the closing ceremony, highlighted that addiction is a global problem.

She said "Right now our Addiction Prevention Training Program of Turkey (TBM) is designated as the most effective practice for addiction prevention. We will make sure this achievement lasts. To strengthen our Country Green Crescents, with the principle of "Strength by Unity," we will work on global projects against alcohol, tobacco, technology and most importantly, drug addictions."

During the four days of the program, while Green Crescent was sharing its experiences against addictions, The United Nations (UN), The World Health Organization (WHO), The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Federation (IFRC), Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) and other important international NGOs also shared their knowledge, projects and contributed to the meeting with their presentations.
